How to Measure your Dog

House Collars

House collars are designed to be worn at all times and feature a metal loop to hold your dog’s ID tags. They should not be used for walking or exercising your dog. Our standard house collars do not have a clip fitting and must be slipped over your dog’s head and adjusted to fit the neck loosely.

Standard house collars are approximately 30cm (12") to 46cm (18") in circumference. Please measure your dog around the widest part of the head (to ensure that the collar can be slipped over the head) and around the lower part of the neck where the collar will comfortably sit to ensure it is the correct size for your dog.

Martingale Collars

Martingale collars are fabric walking collars which are designed to close tight whenever your dog pulls against the lead. Their wider construction helps to keep your dog safe and comfortable whilst out and about.

Our Martingale collars are sized for an average greyhound and will fit a neck circumference of approximately 27cm (10.5") to 38cm (15"). To ensure the size is correct for your dog, please measure them around the narrowest part of the neck, high up just behind the ears.

Once you have received your collar, it is important to make sure that it is correctly fitted. Slip the collar over your dog’s head and position it at the narrowest part of the neck just behind the ears. Pull up on the smaller D ring to tighten the collar. The two larger metal D rings should close together, but should not quite touch.

If they do, the collar is too loose and will need to be tightened.

Martingale collars may not be suitable for all dogs. If your dog is particularly reactive or strong on the lead, you may wish to consider a traditional fishtail collar or harness. Customers are responsible for deciding whether a Martingale collar is suitable for their dog. Please regularly check your collar for any signs of wear to ensure the integrity of the collar and the safety of your dog.

Custom Sizing

If your dog's neck is larger or smaller than our standard measurements, we can make house collars and Martingale collars to your specifications. Please note however that whilst we can make any collars to a smaller size, we may not be able to make collars in a larger size in some fabrics. Please see the Custom Collars section for more information.
